Job description
Provide daily operational oversight for the Transcription department. Ensure timely, and accurate patient reports generated and delivered to our client base. Gather organizational reporting.
- Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the transcription area. Ensure the accuracy and efficiency of services provided by the department.
- Provide direction and monitoring of workflow to meet deadlines and assure departmental coverage.
- Provide feedback to employees via annual competency assessments, PD&R process, daily feedback, corrective actions and mentoring.
- Capable of performing all of the duties/responsibilities of a Transcriptionist II.
- Perform transcription duties as needed to ensure timely completion of work.
- Develop policies and procedures for Transcription department.
- Ensure accurate billing of Anatomic Pathology tests.
- Gather statistical data for pathologist’s variable compensation program and monthly departmental operations reports.
- May pull cases for PASR reporting.
- Demonstrate and convey an understanding of the compliance policies relating to test ordering, test reporting, add-on tests, TIQ/TNRP, reflex tests and custom panels.
- Responsible for orientation and training of newly hired transcriptionists.
- Identify and resolve all employee/client issues.
- Responsible for scheduling of time off/breaks/lunches.
- Perform QC of transcription staff monthly and SOP’s.
- Monitoring of pending lists.
- Identify problem areas and make appropriate changes to workflow.
- Arrange for service and maintain dictating equipment.
- May work with members of other departments.
- Work as active bench Transcriptionist.
- All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Work Experience:
- At least 3-5 years administrative/administration experience.
Preferred Work Experience:
- Experience in Lab Operations, HR and/or Customer Service
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Excellent eye, hand, and auditory coordination.
- May require walking throughout the building to various other departments, copiers, printers, fax machines, etc.
- May require lifting and carrying of loads up to 20 lbs.
- May require travel to other department locations in other cities, as well as out of state travel for conferences, seminars, etc.
- Use of PC and dictation equipment when workflow requires.
- Ability to visually, physically, and audibly perform all functions, with or without reasonable accommodations.
Technical/Job Specific Knowledge:
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, clinical medicine, surgery, diagnostic tests, radiology, pathology, pharmacology, and the various medical specialties as required in areas of responsibility.
- Knowledge of medical transcription guidelines and practices.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including English usage, grammar, punctuation, and style.
- Ability to understand diverse accents and dialects and varying dictation styles.
Skills:
- Ability to prioritize projects to meet deadlines; attention to detail; ability to problem solve; familiarity with medical terminology.
- Additional education or proven experience; excellent organizational skills; experience in using word processing programs.

Associates Degree
High School Diploma or Equivalent(Required)
