Equix Energy Services is an energy and utilities contractor that provides high quality pipeline and facility construction services. The Equix team is built on pride in the workmanship and abilities of our crews. Our core group of in-house welders have extensive knowledge and background in pipeline and fabrication welding. We have a current opening for a Human Resources Business Partner. At Equix, we support our customers and stakeholders and constantly strive to exceed expectations. Our services include pipeline construction, gas distribution, horizontal directional drilling, facility construction and fabrication, and trenching services.
Responsibilities:
- Establish close working relationships to understand business objectives and requirements to assist in the timely delivery of people-related solutions
- Participate and contribute to a culture that builds rewarding relationships, facilitates feedback and provides exceptional customer service and effective communication strategies as well as one that guides and directs best practices of continuous learning, improvement and cohesiveness
- Manage talent including recruitment, selection, leadership development, employee development and training, performance management and succession planning
- Responsible for full-cycle recruitment for various divisions located in multiple states
- Screen and interview candidates for active positions and potential future positions needed
- Provide advice, guidance, and information regarding employee relations matters to leadership to support decision-making
- Responsibilities will include attending career fairs, assisting with college recruiting, online and classroom presentations and marketing the employee referral program
- Handle employee relations in a way that promotes professional behavior, equal opportunities, fair administration of policies and procedures, and follows all legal standards to include discipline and discharge of employees
- Investigate and take appropriate action to positively resolve workplace conflicts and problems
- Investigate internal and external complaints regarding discrimination, harassment, etc. assist with the response and escalate as appropriate
- Implement programs and support local leadership and employees by ensuring a physical presence
- Administer the performance appraisal program to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within the organization
- Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, current practices, new developments and applicable laws regarding Human Resources
- Coordinate and conduct organizational training and development initiatives and maintaining records as required
- Exemplify the desired culture and philosophies of the organization and be seen as a key resource
- Maintain continuous improvement focused on the delivery of information and the quality and effectiveness of human resources activities
- Collaboratively work in partnership with other HR team members to set high-level guidelines and effectively deliver solutions to the organization
- Manages exit interview process and analyzes trends and make recommendations to support engagement, process improvement and leader/employee development
- Responsible for investigating employee complaints and administering consistent progressive discipline process, documentation and support of all levels of discipline including suspension, separation of employment and performance improvement plans
- Manages integrity of employee job descriptions, position requirements, and FLSA exemption analysis
- Works with the Corporate HR team to respond to unemployment claims to ensure necessary documentation is provided to contest claims where appropriate including participating in unemployment claim hearings as needed
- Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws
- Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance
- Collects and analyzes HR data and develops recommendations and action plans to address issues.
- Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field required
- Equivalent combination of education and/or experience will be considered
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in Human Resources which includes work in employee relations, recruitment, selection, wage and hour compliance, and major employment laws (e.g., Title VII, FLSA, OSHA, FMLA, COBRA, etc.) required
- Possess a high level of initiative and energy to achieve organizational objectives
- Demonstrated ability to be organized and work on multiple projects and meet deadlines while managing shifting priorities
- Ability to work independently as well as effectively on a team
- Desire to work in a fast-paced work environment in a rapidly growing organization
- Must have demonstrated ability to manage relationships
- Must be willing to travel to different parts of the country to participate in recruiting events (up to 10% of time)
- Experience working with applicant tracking system, resume databases and internet sourcing tools
- SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred
