Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer II to join the Data Power and Control Division in Hickory, NC.
The Mechanical Engineer II is responsible for the design and implementation of opto-mechanical components and assemblies, including product test validation, for new products, product enhancements, and VAVE/cost savings. Works individually or as part of a design team to develop, evaluate, and validate product designs and specifications. Also conducts design reviews, validates and approves documentation packages, preproduction builds, and production transfers.
Provides mentor guidance and support to engineering team members across disciplines.
Main Job Duties:
Education : BS in Mechanical Engineering
Experience : 2-4 years related work experience. Two years minimum design experience in mechanical design and/or electro-mechanical systems required. Leadership and project management skills and experience required. Some manufacturing experience is desired.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities :
Extensive experience with SolidWorks 2D/3D modeling software required
Experience with device-level physical packaging & production processes
Preferred knowledge and/or experience with product engineering requirements
Must have strong computer skills, proficient with Microsoft Office word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and database software, e-mail and meeting management software. Ability to use the internet and web-based resources efficiently and effectively.
Requires strong organizational and time management skills, close attention to detail and be-able-to effectively handle multiple priorities. Must possess excellent project management skills, including demonstrated ability to develop and manage to a project plan, establish priorities, work to deadlines, and control a number of projects at various stages of work.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization. Must be an effective listener, able to extract necessary information and validate understanding of the information.
Must have strong scientific analytical skills and proven ability to efficiently research and summarize information in an effective manner and make recommendations based upon analysis.
Must be highly collaborative and able to work in a team-based environment. Fosters open communication and support an environment of innovation and creative change.
Willing to travel as necessary (per LNCA COVID-19 Travel Policy).
