Job description
The CEP Technician Master position will represent the highest levels of job knowledge, work ethic, and customer service orientation among shop personnel. Together with the shop foreman, the Master is responsible for establishing excellent customer relations, including outreach and troubleshooting of customer service problems. The Master will help establish and maintain a strong mission and customer focus within the shops through their own actions and through mentoring of shop personnel. The Master works with other shop Master positions on coordination between shop projects. The Master will maintain the highest level of trade knowledge including current best industry practices, knowledge of beginner and advanced training courses for the trade, continuing education opportunities, and specific safety practices applying to their trade. The Master will be integrally involved in the apprentice program, monitoring the viability of on-the-job-training and academic programs for apprentices in their shop and recommending changes as needed.
Each Master will be a permanent member of the Facilities Apprenticeship Committee. Masters will also work with the Facilities Safety Office on safety training programs and to help track accident statistics in their respective shops. The Master will participate in train-the-trainer programs, and will provide or disseminate training and related materials to all shop personnel.
This position is open to current USU Facilities Senior Technician employees in the Central Energy Plant.
