Wage band range $80,0000.00 - $99,000.00 annually. However, starting pay is ultimately determined by the scope of the position, the candidate's relevant experience, and internal equity. Position is eligible for Bilingual pay incentive.
Under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer, this unique position will support our young adult and adolescent population in a number of programs; Camino a Casa Program, Admissions, Transition Youth Services Program (Stepping-Stones), Non-Public School (NPS), Outpatient program and Enhanced Care Management program. Youth are referred to these various programs through private insurance, social services, probation, mental health departments, adoptions assistance, school districts and outreach efforts. As a Licensed Psychologist carries a caseload and is responsible for providing clinical services to assigned clients. Additionally, is responsible for managing case assignments to program/cottage clinicians and overseeing the clinical care of the clients within an assigned program and/or cottage. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned to support the youth and young adult population in those programs listed above.
As a Licensed Psychologist II, must maintain a high level of clinical and organizational skills and carry out the mission of Casa Pacifica as it relates to on-going clinical assessment, intervention, and progress of the within Casa Pacifica.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (illustrated by typical activities):
Admissions and Camino a Casa Residential, PHP and IOP Program Duties
- Will assist with admissions of youth including but not limited to assessments, treatment plans, risk screenings, peer and utilization reviews.
- May provide clinical services to our youth under the guidance of the Senior Program Manager
- May carry a caseload. Each case includes 2 hours of individual therapy, 1 hour of family therapy, weekly psychiatric medication appointment support, weekly UR (if applicable), and case management as needed.
- May provide group supervision and participate in the clinical team meeting.
- May provide group coverage for Residential, PHP and IOP programs as assigned.
Non-Public School (NPS) Duties
- May co-lead groups under the guidance of the NPS Clinical Program Manager
- Groups will take approximately 6-7 hours a week and the documentation and preparation will take about 2 to 3 hours a week.
Psychological Testing
- Provide psychological testing services for youth. Testing services will support youth in our programs as well as those referred by the community at large. This will include private pay clients, our TYS youth supported by a grant, youth referred by school districts and once credentialled testing covered by insurance.
TYS and Outpatient Program
- Provide mental health services to our TYS youth as well as youth referred to us from the community.
- Provide outpatient services to support local youth in the community.
Enhanced Care Management
- The Enhanced Care Management (ECM) Services Clinician is a position under the direction of the ECM Services Manager. The ECM Clinician ensures the quality of services provided by the ECM Services address the clinical and non-clinical circumstances of high-need clients enrolled in Medi-Cal managed care.
- ECM services provide a whole-person approach to children, youth and families experiencing complex medical and psychosocial challenges to minimize the likelihood of preventable hospital and emergency department admissions. Services include outreach and engagement, providing person-centered care coordination, developing care plans, and providing linkages to medical, psychiatric, social, educational and other services as needed.
- The ECM Clinician provides direct supervision for ECM Lead Care Managers and supports ECM Services Unit activities related to staff training, assessment, quality assurance and improvement, and evaluation of the services.
Clinical Competencies and Responsibilities
- Assesses the clinical needs of the youth, develops and revises treatment plans, makes referrals to needed resources, and creates a discharge plan for assigned clients.
- Provides clinical services such as individual, collateral, rehabilitation, parenting skills training, and case management as appropriate to the individual needs of the youth.
- Provides leadership and management of assigned clinicians, staff, interns, and teams to enable employees’ full potential and achieve excellence in service outcomes.
- Evaluates the changing mental health needs of the youth and adjusts accordingly.
- Utilizes evidenced based practices that are appropriate to meet the clinical needs of the youth and family.
- Collaborates with youth development specialists, recreation staff, education staff, health clinic staff, parent partners, youth advocates, families, and youth to provide comprehensive clinical care for the youth and to ensure program consistency and continuity throughout the day.
- Acts as liaison with placement agencies and community services and works closely with mental health and child protective services, as well as law enforcement agencies, schools, employers, health and welfare, and recreation agencies to provide coordinated care.
- Confers with teaching staff regarding the behavioral or learning problems of youth and recommends methods of modifying inappropriate behavior and encouraging learning experiences.
- Confers with parents regarding school and facility activities, policies, and procedures as needed and appropriate.
- Serves as the leader of a youth/family treatment team. In conjunction with the team, develops and implements individual clinical treatment plans and assures the integration of the clinical component within the milieu using a multi-disciplinary approach.
- Responsible for maintaining an organized and up-to-date clinical chart according to DMH guidelines. Prepares regular progress reports on each client; prepares additional correspondence related to caseload as required. Documents progress notes on electronic health record.
- Aids authorities to plan for the discharge and transition arrangements of the child.
- Assists youth transitioning into the community and links them to appropriate community resources, including referrals for Transitional Youth Services, substance abuse programs, Wraparound, and Therapeutic Behavior Services, when appropriate.
- Collaborates with Program Managers to oversee staff productivity, documentation timeliness, and other revenue related activities to ensure the program meets or exceeds revenue forecasts.
- Ensures clinical documentation and quality assurance meets both agency and payor standards, ensuring audit-ready charts and continuous quality improvement.
- Ensures that all staff behavior and area activity is in full compliance with agency, local, state, and federal standards and requirements.
- Assist in program development and staff training, including close collaboration with program/cottage supervisor to ensure the milieu is therapeutic.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Psychologist II:
Possession of a PhD or PsyD degree from APA approved program with specialization in clinical, child clinical, counseling or education psychology. Possession and maintenance of a current CA license to practice as a psychologist granted by the CA Board of Psychology.
AND
2 years of postdoctoral, post-internship experience involving assessment and treatment, and either training, research, consultation, or program planning in mental health services, law enforcement or corrections.
0-3 years relevant experience and Clinical Supervision
CREDENTIALS: Licensed Psychologist, required.
TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and other state/federal licensing or certification requirements, including mandatory reporting requirements as per Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA). Valid California Driver’s license, clean record.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to use various computers Software, Microsoft Office Suites.
- Bilingual in Spanish, a plus.
- Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
Language Skills: Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to write comprehensive evaluations and progress notes/ reports on youth’s treatment goals.
