Job description

As the Director of Adult Services, you will assist the Vice President with the leadership and direction of the agency's adult service program; directly supervise the adult services supervisors. You will be responsible for assisting with the development and management of program budgets; ensure program offerings of the highest possible quality; engage in on-going, proactive quality improvement activities in all adult service programs; ensure compliance with all program licensing/certification standards. Explore and develop new lines of business in the adult program area.

Essential Functions and Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Protect the rights and dignities of individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities and extend these rights and dignities to family members and/or guardians.

2. Upholds and complies with all safety programs and policies to maintain a safe work environment for employees, consumers, family members and visitors.

3. Commits to organizational quality initiatives by developing and/or participating in programs that will assure quality improvements and team processes.

4. Supervise and direct employees towards the development and maintenance of high-quality supportive services. This includes mentoring staff by following through on timely performance appraisals, disciplinary and employee relations, wage and salary, and interview and hiring processes as necessary.

5. Ensure that staff document all activities in accordance with the requirements necessary for billing, agency policies or by regulatory requirements.

6. Assists with the responsibility for the certification, licensing and/or credentialing of all programs in accordance with each funder’s/regulator’s rules and regulations.

7. Represent the organization at external meetings and community activities to enhance the organization's community profile and reputation.

8. Along with the CFO and VP of Adult Services, is responsible for the development, monitoring and sound fiscal management of program budgets.

9. Explores and develops new, complimentary lines of business in the adult program area.

10. Maintain professional knowledge through participation in professional organizations, conferences and in-services. Participate in inter and intra departmental meetings; work in cooperation with others to promote the personal wellbeing of those served.

11. Assess overall program structure and integration to best arrange for effective and collegial interaction and collaboration between disciplines, programs and departments.

12. Follow all agency guidelines and department specific policies (i.e. sick time or vacation time usage and call in policies, dress codes, etc.) as specified in personnel manual.

13. Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor related to the organization’s mission, goals and operations.

Working Conditions: Natural settings, center and home-based interventions which shall require local travel. General business office conditions working with computer, telephone, photocopy equipment and fax machines. Work environment is contained in a program location that necessitates frequent child and family contact.

Physical and Mental Requirements: Ability to successfully perform the essential function of this job with reasonable accommodations considered to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. Ability to deal with a wide range of individual and programmatic issues. Frequent sitting, standing and walking. Must be able to lift 30 pounds. Must have valid driver’s license, safe driving record, automobile insurance and access to vehicle to be used as directed and when needed for transport.

Education, Experience, And Skills: 7 – 10 years’ experience administering adult clinical program(s), as well as work with adults with a variety of diagnoses to include I/DD, Autism Spectrum Disorder and dually diagnosed individuals.
