Job description
Rebecca School is a developmental program that utilizes the DIRFloortime method , a relationship-based model of teaching instruction developed by Dr. Stanley Greenspan. Rebecca School is opening a new location in Mount Vernon, NY for the 2024 school year and is seeking Occupational Therapists to work with students age 3 to 21 with neurodevelopmental delays in relating, communicating and thinking. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play an integral role in the success of our students, developing occupational therapy treatment plans and goals to improve functional abilities and enhance their ability to learn. Rebecca School North is an expansion of the Rebecca School in NYC after 18 successful years of serving students with neurodevelopment delays in relating and communicating.
Pay Range is $65,000 to $80,000 depending on degree and experience (based on a 12-month position).
RESPONSIBILITIES | WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING - Provide individual and group occupational therapy services to students to correct specific areas of sensory motor integrative dysfunction and social/emotional issues
- Administer initial evaluations and assessments to determine a student's level of function
- Provide written reports identifying the student's needs and proposed treatment strategies, goals and objectives; maintain progress records
- Collaborate with staff in the development, analysis and preparation of reports, sensory diets (classroom and individual) and in-service assignments
- Provide team members with education for facilitation of implemented techniques or modalities
- Monitor therapy and educational staff trained to incorporate appropriate occupational therapy treatment strategies into instruction; evaluate effectiveness of the established program and make modifications within the OT framework of the DIR model
- Train other staff on pertinent therapeutic activities and techniques to support students as needed
- Collaborate with other disciplines such as Physical Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, and Social Work
- Communicate consistently with parents/caregivers
- Write daily session notes, biannual progress reports and initial evaluations
- Maintain professional competence by attending staff development programs and continuing education programs
- Participate in weekly Greenspan meetings, team meetings and staff trainings
QUALIFICATIONS | WHAT YOU BRING - Master's Degree or Doctoral Degree in Occupational Therapy
- License to practice Occupational Therapy in NYS
- Experience in Pediatrics preferred
- Knowledge of DIRFloortime is preferred, but not required
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with students, staff and parents
