Job Description Summary
Bentley seeks a talented and experienced research and portfolio analytics professional to join the prospect research & management team in the division of University Advancement.
Essential Duties The Sr. Associate Director of Prospect Research and Analytics will be responsible for the following:
- Evaluates and rates major gift prospects, prioritizes proactive and reactive prospecting and research assignments in conjunction with fundraising goals, conducts detailed research, prepares written research products and electronic reports, and suggests appropriate strategies related to specific University funding opportunities.
- Develop methodologies, reports, analytics, visual aids, and aggregations of data to capture key performance indicators, to better identify new prospects and prioritize current donors.
- Proactively partner with the Director, Prospect Management & Research to create and manage portfolios and track progress. Provide research-based analysis and strategic assessment of prospect and donor trends related to the prospect fundraising cycle and provide strategic analysis regarding the prospects in the portfolio and the best approach for each to move them through the solicitation cycle.
- Assist Director of Prospect Research & Management in portfolio review meetings with frontline fundraising staff; includes assisting fundraisers in development of cultivation and solicitation strategies and fundraising approaches, establishing next steps, and ensuring prospects are being moved through portfolios in a timely fashion.
- Assist in developing and streamlining workflow for proactive prospect identification system(s) using a variety of techniques including updating and tracking prospect capacity ratings, data analytics, engagement & affinity scoring, vendor screenings and data mining.
- Conduct projects to analyze data, applying descriptive & predictive analytics and data visualization to communicate information, predicting future behavior to explain trends for internal and external audiences.
- Assist with campaign readiness assessments, including analysis of gift potential of prospect pools and overall strategy and execution for a campaign. This includes assessing potential donor interest and measuring effectiveness of ongoing/post-campaign efforts including overall fundraising achievement, prospect demographics, prospect pool utilization and evaluation of fundraiser performance.
- Facilitate the day-to-day functionality of the prospect management and tracking system within Millennium (current)/Slate(future) to systematically move a large volume of prospects through the solicitation cycle in order to maximize fundraising success.
- Manage vendor wealth screening process and additional vendor data integration with CRM.
- Inform on trends in prospect management, research best practices and develop, maintain, and regularly review policies and procedures on research methodologies, the qualification process, and prospect management.
- Assume additional responsibilities as required.
Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor's degree.
- A minimum of five years in prospect development or an equivalent field.
- A demonstrated proficiency in using relational databases, a deep understanding of information management and computer proficiency along with experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
- Significant experience in querying, comparing, and managing data in a large-scale database.
- Fluency in prospect research & donation databases such as Lexis-Nexis, and wealth screening platforms (DonorSearch, Iwave etc.); along with other appropriate electronic resources (both public and subscription based).
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to create effective collaborations among various levels of staff, faculty, and other constituencies across the campus.
- Excellent project management skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in writing clearly and concisely and the ability to appropriately use and manage sensitive and confidential data.
- Proven success in establishing and achieving quantifiable objectives and the ability and desire to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and initiative.
- Strong problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills.
- Excellent time management skills, including the ability to work well under deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Work Environment - The position works at a computer in a standard office.
- Usual office environment with frequent sitting, walking, and standing, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing.
- Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of office machinery.
- Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices such as the telephone.
