Job description
JOB SUMMARY:
An individual who has completed personal care training and is competent to perform assigned functions of personal care to the client in their residence. This position provides 1:1 supervision for safety and assistance to the client in activities of daily living to maintain the client in their home.

Personal Care Assistant Responsibilities:
- Help clients with daily activities, including but not limited to: bathing, dressing, serving meals, helping clients eat, turning clients and ambulating clients
- Take vital signs
- Examine clients for bruises, blood in urine or other injuries/wounds
- Collect information about conditions and treatment plans from caregivers, nurses, doctors and family members
- Provide and empty bedpans
- Lift clients into beds, wheelchairs, exam tables, etc.
- Clean and sanitize client areas, including changing bed sheets
- Stay up-to-date on PCA training, policies and procedures

Personal Care Assistant Requirements:
- Must have HS Diploma or GED
- Must have completed personal care training program and competency. May receive on the job training.
- Have a sympathetic attitude toward the care of the sick and elderly.
- Ability to carry out directions, read and write.
- Maturity and ability to deal effectively with the demands of the job.
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must have valid license and auto insurance
