Overview General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems, a premier provider of ordnance weapons and tactical systems to the U.S. Department of Defense and allied nations, has an Intern opportunity to join our Garland Team for the summer. We are about supporting the mission of the warfighter. Our products can be found with every U.S. Military branch with allies around the world. We are looking for motivated and creative individuals who want to help shape and support this organization.
The Quality Assurance Intern will be responsible for completing an assigned project(s) under the direction of the Manager, Quality Assurance and with assistance from other personnel.
Responsibilities Internship will take place
- at any time as your school schedule allows for a Part-Time internship during school OR
- traditional summer time from May 13, 24 to August 2, 24.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Provides support to professional employees working in an organizational function related to the Intern's area of study.
- Learns organizational processes and procedures.
- Contributes to assigned projects and may assist with the development and maintenance of documentation or records.
- Handles basic issues and problems
- Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Develop smart tracking method of tracking Quality metrics (First pass yield, MRB, Scrap Rate)
- Root cause administrative analysis support for CARB (Corrective Action Review Board) team
- Assist with cycle time checks on the inspection process
- SPC support (Statistical Process Control) Data Entry
- Documentation writing for or under-defined quality activities/processes
- MRB tracking/logging
- Document Control/Scanning tasks (1,000 pages a week current workload)
- Gage storage identification

Qualifications Education:
- Pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering from an accredited college/university
- High School Diploma/GED

- Ability to understand and follow instructions.
- Strong analytical and qualitative abilities. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work well with a diverse employee population are essential.
- Strong computer skills, and proficient in MS Office application are required.
- Must demonstrate organizational and prioritization skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, using discretion and independent judgement.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
- May work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
- May be requested to work a different shift.
