EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION:  Exempt 

PRINCIPAL PURPOSE OF JOB:

The Marketing and Media Manager in the Kentucky State University (KSU) Land Grant Program (LGP) and College of Agriculture, Health, and Natural Resources will provide leadership to the Media and Communications unit and assist the KSU Division of Marketing in promotional efforts. The Media and Communications unit provides support for the faculty and staff of the LGP to present the goals, objectives, programs, and accomplishments of the program and college.

 

 

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY: 

Working closely with the Director of Marketing, the Marketing and Media Manager will assist with a diverse range of promotional efforts, including developing, implementing, and executing strategic marketing plans for the University.

 

The Marketing and Media Manager will provide leadership to the Media and Communications unit, including: 1) supervising a diverse, skilled communications staff in graphic design, video production, social media, special events, and educational outreach; 2) supervising production of television and broadcast programs as well as other promotional videos; and 3) supervising writing, layout, and design of annual reports, brochures, flyers, websites, script writing, and other materials.

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Oversee the execution of marketing efforts from start to finish.Generate marketing content for distribution on various internal and external platforms.Coordinate with KSU Director of Marketing to develop local, state, and national media contacts.Supervise a diverse, skilled communications staff in graphic design, video production, social media, special events, and educational outreach.Serve as the supervisor and producer of television and broadcast programs as well as other promotional videos.Develop and/or participate in the conceptual development, writing, layout, and design of annual reports, brochures, flyers, websites, feature writing, video productions, script writing and other materials.Develop, write, and work with graphic artist to layout design for various presentation formats.Set annual communications targets and contribute to and monitor their implementation.Perform other duties as assigned.

 

 

OTHER DUTIES:  Perform other duties as required.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, communications, English, and/or related fields.Five years of experience in marketing, developing publications, writing content, and layout/design for newsletters, news releases, and websites.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

Knowledge of marketing-related business practices, including advertising, market research, technology, and budgeting.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies within the University and industry setting.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Ability to work in a team setting and work independently with limited supervision.Ability to lead a diverse, skilled communications team.Ability to work under deadline.Proficiency in computer software for desktop publishing including Adobe Creative Cloud and others.Valid driver’s license.

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

Work could involve some exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.Requires some standing or walking.
