College Academic Advisor

College of Applied Health Sciences

The College of Applied Health Sciences (AHS) () at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is searching for a College Academic Advisor to join our Undergraduate Affairs Office. The College Academic Advisor will assist the undergraduate affairs office achieve its goals associated with student advising, retention, and the efficient administration of a growing undergraduate student population.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Provide college-level and curriculum specific advising for undergraduate students enrolled in the College's five undergraduate degree programs. This includes discussion of career interests and goals and advising on the pre-requisites for admission to graduate and professional programs.

Assist the Assistant Dean for Recruitment, Advising and Enrichment with the administration of tasks associated with college-level undergraduate academic affairs including review of student requests and the maintenance and development of systems and processes that allow students to submit requests.

Collaborate with other members of the College of Applied Health Sciences undergraduate affairs team to support positive student outcomes.

Assist the Assistant Dean for Recruitment, Advising and Enrichment in the administration of academic standing review, advising, and monitoring.

Welcome and advise new first-year and transfer students during new student registration programs and as needed.

Participate in and assist with college-wide student events, including new student welcome and convocation.

Serve on campus, college and department committees and perform other related duties that further the mission of the college.

Qualifications

Required: Master's degree in counseling, social work, higher education, the applied health sciences, social sciences, or related field. A minimum of 3 years of full-time advising experience.

Preferred: Experience working as a college-level advisor. Experience providing advising services for multiple undergraduate degree programs. Experience providing academic advising services to students on academic warning.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

Required: Creativity and commitment to program initiatives. An understanding of the needs concerns of college students and a passion for working with them. Demonstrated strengths including public speaking, professional speaking, and organizational skills. Intercultural skills, including experience working with diverse populations.

Preferred:  Ability to work effectively across academic disciplines and as part of an advising team.

Salary and Appointment Information This is a full-time (100%), 12 month Academic Professional appointment appointed on a 12-month basis. The proposed start is as soon as possible after the closing date. We strive to provide a competitive salary, considering factors such as available market data, internal equity, candidate experience and qualifications, collective bargaining agreements, and budget constraints. The minimum salary for this position is $60,000 with the final salary offer determined through a thorough assessment of these elements.

This is an on-Campus position and not eligible for full remote work. One (1) day per week remote work options may be available for this position after an initial training/team building period, but with the requirement that onsite availability may be needed at any time with short notice.

Work authorization is not available for this position.
