Position Summary:

The Program Coordinator performs a full range of operations and administrative duties in conjunction with student support services to increase retention and completion rates for men of color at NCC. The coordinator works to recruit new men of color to the campus, manage the mentoring and internship components, facilitate weekly workshops, collect data and submit regular reports to internal and external funders, and plan cultural and social events designed to meet the unique needs of this underserved population. It is expected that the Program Coordinator works collaboratively with college faculty and staff, as well as the community. 

The Program Coordinator will serve in a leadership role as an educational resource to address some of the most important factors that determine student success. This role will encompass both the UPLIFT program and the mentoring component. The demands of this expanded role will require the ability to function as the lead on all matters. 

Example of Job Duties:

Under the direction of the NCC Foundation, and other external funding partners such as: banks, community foundations, and private donors, the Program Coordinator of Uplift is responsible for supervising the work of support staff, a Success Coach, student employees, and volunteers through effective performance in these essential duties:

In addition to the accountabilities listed above, the incumbent is required to carry out the essential duties of: Attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies; Service on assigned committees and task forces; Attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational and professional meetings.  These may involve attendance at evening or weekend events.

Incumbents must possess proven ability to effectively work with a culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and student. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.)

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriately related field together with 1 to 4 years of related experience

Starting Salary:

Anticipated Salary; $62,033 approximate annual plus excellent State of CT medical insurance, retirement, and related fringe benefits.
