Language Instructor (Swahili, ASL)
The Upward Bound Program, federally funded, is designed to help first generation/low-income high school students attend and succeed in post-secondary education. Y.O.U., Inc. facilitates the program in partnership with Clark University and Worcester Public Schools. The Summer Instructors have many responsibilities including but not limited to: planning and implementing lesson plans; instructing classes at designated times and days; facilitating study hall; attending weekly staff meetings; etc.
Summer Instructor –language
Candidates must attend all planning meetings.
Bachelor’s degree, Masters and/or licensing in the specific subject area (English, Math, Science, and Foreign Language); demonstrated dynamic leadership and success as an academic “coach”; strong ability to differentiate instruction; proven success with implementing hands on and engaging lesson plans; awareness of higher education principles, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines; excellent communication skills; and demonstrated knowledge of factors affecting student access and success in higher education, including those affecting disadvantaged students, student from diverse backgrounds, and students with disabilities. Both: Master’s degree and licensing in subject area most preferred.
