Plant Maintenance Technician

Description:

The Plant Maintenance Technician will work on various types of process equipment, piping, and controls. With minimal supervision, the incumbent will repair, test, adjust or install mechanical equipment, such as pumps, blowers, compressors, piping systems, gauges and various types of process equipment commonly used in the water and air pollution control industry.

SHIFT / HOURS:

1st shift - 6am to 2:30pm

MUST HAVES:

- Water Treatment Operator experience

- Experience with hand tools

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.

- Repair or replacement of malfunctioning or worn mechanical components.

- Electrical troubleshooting ability.

- Diagnose and repair faulty pumps and equipment.

- Pipe fitting and assemble, especially, but not limited to PVC.

- With supervision, install or replace meters, regulators, or related measuring or control devices.

- Must be a self-starter and able to work effectively with minimum supervision.

- Be available for “On Call” duties after hours.

- Maintain effective working relations with customers, personnel, other client contacts

- Must be able to accomplish multiple tasks and respond quickly and effectively to changes and priorities.

- Proficient in Word and Excel.

- Maintain repair records.

- Adhere to safety procedures and programs.

- Perform other duties as may be assigned.

- Job Knowledge- requires basic knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance. This includes observing and implementing safe practices and procedures, performing preventative and corrective maintenance duties.

- Communication- ability to clearly articulate information to management and client contacts in verbal and written form.

- Problem Solving- required evaluating and reporting inoperable equipment to supervisor.

Skills & Qualifications:

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

- Basic mechanical skills required.

- Basic electrical skills desired.

- High School Diploma or equivalent.

- Minimum four (4) years’ experience in industrial or domestic wastewater treatment preferred.

- HAZWOPER or Confined Space Entry Certification is desired.

- Courses in wastewater treatment are desirable.

- Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations.

- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

- Must possess a valid driver’s license.

- Welding, fabrication, general construction, or heavy equipment operation ability a plus.

Physical Requirements:

- Ability to lift and carry materials up to and in excess of 50 pounds.

- Perform work outdoors in inclement weather.

- Required to reach with hands and arms overhead.

- Must be able to bend at the waist, kneel, or lie down and perform work.

- Vision abilities required such as close and color vision.
