Director of Freelance Services

Based in New York City, NY

 

The American Federation of Musicians of the US and Canada is accepting resumés for the position of Director of Freelance Services.

The successful applicant will be based in or relocate to New York City and report to the International President.

Purpose:
This position supports AFM Local Union officers and staff in the Locals' mission to address the workplace and economic needs of musicians and acts whose primary work falls outside the traditional employer/employee boundaries, i.e., indie, self-produced, "gig-worker” musicians.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will (1) possess a working knowledge of the freelance/general business sector of the music industry and must have, or can develop, a familiarity with AFM Local Unions and Local Union officers; (2) possess a hands-on familiarity with web hosting technology, including cPanel and WordPress; (3) be possessed of a disposition suitable for sales and "help desk” environments; (4) possess excellent writing and verbal skills and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Publisher; (5) be able to travel; (6) be self-motivated to explore helpful new ideas and concepts relevant to the freelance music sector; (7) be comfortable speaking to a range of audiences, in person and via videoconference, about the Department's programs.

Salary range: $70,000.00-$75,000.00 with an excellent benefits package.
