Job description

Christ the King Catholic School in South Bend is looking for a 2nd Grade teacher. The Educator will be responsible for integrating the mission of Christ the King School.

 

Job Responsibilities:

• Serves in a ministry position as a religious leader, working in faith formation as part of a vibrant, Catholic, faith-filled educational community. 

• Provides grade 2 Indiana content standards for students.

• Prepares students by providing sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.

• Maintains an attractive, organized, and engaging learning environment.

• Develops lesson plans with clear objectives in line with the Diocesan and school curriculum.

• Provides grade- appropriate extended or enrichment opportunities.

• Uses relevant technology to support/enhance instruction.

• Maintains appropriate classroom management through positive discipline techniques to enhance the learning environment.

• Maintains accurate and complete records of students' progress and development.

• Provides regular and consistent communication with parents, students, staff, and administration.

• Performs assigned duties when needed for the supervision of students before, during, or after school including lunch duties, recess duties, dismissal duties, detention, and any other duties assigned by the administration.

• Participates in faculty meetings, school committees, and in-service learning opportunities.

• Attends school events including Back to School Nights, Open Houses, Parent/Teacher conference days, and other events as requested by the administration.

 

Qualifications:

• Indiana teaching license in appropriate grade level/teaching area; or demonstrated eligibility to receive a license

• Successful experience in student teaching or classroom teaching

• Positive references and recommendations

• Clear ability to promote and witness to our Roman Catholic Faith and prepare students for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion

• Basic understanding and acceptance of Catholic school philosophy, goals, and objectives

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

• Teaching assignments may require additional training and/or certification.
• Must be able to pass a background check, Safe Environment, and application process
• May be required to lift and carry heavy, bulky supplies and materials weighing up to 20 pounds.
• May be required to work outside normal working hours.
• Catholic applicants must be practicing Catholics.

CERTIFICATION:
Applicants must be appropriately certified AND highly qualified in the State of Indiana.

To be appropriately certified and highly qualified, successful candidates must hold a current Indiana teaching certificate issued by the Indiana State Department of Education. They must meet the following criteria:

Hold a valid Elementary K-8 Certificate OR Elementary 1- 8  OR Special Education License with the 1-8 Endorsement OR A primary Teaching License.
