Bilingual Recruitment Specialist (CLIN RSCH CRD) Department Description
Under general supervision of the Program Director, the Bilingual Recruitment Specialist will conduct study screening and visit scheduling, maintain community contact and study recruitment databases, and strengthen existing outreach and community collaborations for the Greater Sacramento Women's Brain Health (GROW) Program and for the U.S. POINTER Study. The Recruitment Specialist will collaborate with the study leadership and outreach team to strategize toward continued expansion of the GROW study and reach enrollment goals. They will support existing study needs for both studies and ensure that participants are followed up with appropriately for all visit timepoints. The Recruitment Specialist will help in collecting data, calling and screening participants, and appropriately documenting events. They will work closely with other members of the U.S. POINTER and GROW teams and under the direction of Program Director to ensure that the needs of the studies are consistently met.
The Greater Sacramento Women's Brain Health (GROW) Program, focused in Oak Park and surrounding neighborhoods in the Sacramento area, aims to fill the gap in research on sex- and race-based drivers of dementia. The GROW research study will recruit middle-aged and elderly women for a longitudinal observational study. Women participating in the study will complete annual health screenings, questionnaires, and cognitive testing with the research team. Through following women over time, we aim to identify and better understand risk and resilience factors for brain health.
The U.S. POINTER trial is a ground-breaking and well publicized study designed to evaluate the impact of multiple lifestyle modifications on cognitive function and brain health among older adults without dementia/cognitive impairment at study baseline. Lifestyle/behavioral modifications will incorporate physical exercise, cognitive training, nutrition, and management of vascular risk factors at two levels of intensity. Primary outcomes are repeat cognitive test scores while secondary outcomes include the collection of indices of physical function and cardiometabolic indicators, among others.
This position is a hybrid opportunity. The Recruitment Specialist will spend a lot of time making calls, sending emails and texts, and documenting outcomes in databases, calendars, and other trackers. This position will also be expected to attend health education and community outreach events in the Greater Sacramento area on a as needed basis.

- Fluent in speaking, reading, and writing Spanish
- Experience with scheduling and calendar coordination
- Experienced with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft OneDrive, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Outlook, and REDCap
- Familiar with grassroots recruitment of research subjects
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills to communicate with older adults to develop and maintain a good working rapport
- Administrative skills and ability to exercise good judgment, initiative, and resourcefulness in making decisions.
- Excellent organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to maintain positive and cooperative attitude even during unexpected schedule or priority changes, and retain interpersonal effectiveness
- Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision
- Ability to prioritize tasks and assignments based on the needs of the research team and the research participants, seeking input from the Program Director and the U.S. POINTER and GROW Project Managers
- Computer skills and experience with database programs for the effective management of research data
- Familiar with clinical trial protocols and IRB regulations
- Ability to drive to attend community and outreach events as needed
- Knowledge of diverse populations and diverse communities in the Sacramento area
Preferred Qualifications - Bachelor's degree /or equivalent experience, education and training.
- Experience working with older adults and those from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience developing community relationships on behalf of UC Davis Health and the Department of Public Health Sciences
