Hiring a Lab Assistant for a great lab in San Jose, CA!! MUST have scientific degree within Biology or related and PCR experience is a PLUS!! Great way to gain experience on resume if you graduated!
M-F day shift Description: We are now looking to hire a Lab Assistant / Device Tester for a position on its assay development team.
Essential Duties - Carrying out test protocols on integrated Visby devices or modules under the guidance of a scientist or engineer including clear and timely communication of results
- Taking detailed notes on failure modes and key observables on the device. Reporting bugs as necessary.
- Working with biohazardous materials and infectious agents (BSL-2 level pathogenic organisms and clinical samples). This may involve preparing samples, making dilutions, creating sample pools, decontaminating work spaces etc.
- Running laboratory instrumentation in support of development experiments
- Running simple engineering experiments under the guidance of a scientist or engineer
- Assisting with general lab maintenance such as cleaning and decontamination
- Following protocols: Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Laboratory Practice(GLP), Good Documentation Practice (GDP) including recording all data and results from experiments in a laboratory notebook, and all pertinent internal and external regulatory guidelines
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Skills: lab experience, pcr, pipetting, molecular biology, Quality assurance, Biology, Microbiology
Additional Skills & Qualifications: - Entry level position
- Strong attention to detail
- Good pipetting skills
- Flexible work hours
- Experience in laboratory in academic or industrial setting preferred
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Flexibility to change directions and objectives as the company needs
Education And/or Experience - Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in a scientific field.
- BS in biological science (or related) preferred, not required
Physical Demands - Comfortable performing repetitive tasks and/or motions.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 10 lbs.
