Job description

We are looking to fill a full time Plant Superintendent position with a manufacturer located in southern Illinois. If you fit these requirements and are looking to make a change, please respond to this ad with your current resume.

SALARY RANGE: $90K to $95k per year.

REQUIREMENTS:

·5+ Years of Plant Superintendent Experience within a manufacturing environment and a

Bachelor’s Degree

OR

·10+ Years of Plant Superintendent experience in a manufacturing environment.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for overseeing plant operations in a highly complex, fast-paced environment. Accountable for all aspects of plant performance to ensure that objectives are attained in a cost-effective manner that’s consistent with quality and safety requirements. Delegates authority to key supervisors in production, manages all functions involved and direct and coordinate day-to-day operations for the manufacturing plant while increasing production and revenue. Develops and controls capital budgets in support of sales forecast.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

1. Direct and manage plant operations for production, maintenance, quality, inventory and shipping and receiving for a 1 press (7”) extrusion mill.

2. Coordinate plant activities through the planning with departmental managers to ensure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner.

3. Develop and control profits, plans, and budget.

4. Implement cost effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, manpower, wages and salaries.

5. Manages capital asset maintenance.

6. Establish and monitor overall plant performance for production and quality standards.

7. Control and minimize labor overtime, premium freight and repair expenses.

8. Maintain existing plant facilities and equipment; replace or make adjustments to plant facilities and equipment when necessary.

9. Establish a team focus for progressive improvement of plant’s on time order fill and ship rate

10. Familiarity with regulatory requirements with strong knowledge of local, state and federal health and safety regulations.

11. Provide leadership and training to accomplish the company goals and objectives.

12. Implements and maintains preventative maintenance programs.

13. Incorporates shop floor organization and plant cleanliness among plant personnel.

14. Provides direction, development and leadership to production manager and supervisors.

15. Implement and train team members on processes and lean manufacturing.

16. Works with Global Purchasing Manager as needed to address any vendor/supplier issues.

17. Regularly evaluate staff performance.

18. Work with Director of Organizational Development in design and implementation of coaching and training programs to develop staff, facilitate efficiency, and improve performance.

19. Responsible for Key Performance Metrics across all manufacturing departments.

20. Ensure that all work is given to personnel who have adequate training, as necessary, is adequately covered by appropriate instructions, drawing, specifications etc.

21. Oversee all operational and day-to-day activities related to manufacturing, packaging and shipping.

22. Aptitude for equipment operation and troubleshooting.

23. Ensure all operations under supervision are given suitable maintenance to prescribed and documented procedures.

24. Work in cooperation with other management and non-supervision personnel to ensure that the customers and company requirements are met.

25. Provide OJT and formal training as required to employees under supervision.

26. This role requires regular presence on the shop floor.

27. This role may require weekend work.

28. This role may require some travel (less than 10%).

29. The Plant Manager and Production Manager ensure that incoming order reviews are properly performed and that the appropriate company personnel are aware of requirements, including changes.

30. The Plant Manager along with the HR representative has the responsibility for determining and documenting the necessary competencies for personnel.

31. Work within the guidelines of the Quality Program, including drawings and procedures.

32. Insures good housekeeping in work area.

33. Reports problems or accidents to management immediately.

34. Gives proper consideration to safety on each job and abides by all company safety rules, policies, and procedures.

35. Performs related work as required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE DESIRED:

· Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Ability to work with and direct the activities of employees. Working knowledge of budgets and financial statements. Background with manufacturing methods, process improvement programs and procedures required. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent project and program management skills. Safety Focused and computer proficient Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel).

· Education/Experience: Bachelors degree in related field or 10 years plant management experience in a manufacturing environment.

· Specific Knowledge, Skills, Licenses, Certifications, etc.: Knowledge of Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing techniques preferred. Technical skills in materials and inventory management, production scheduling, and preventive maintenance. Leadership: A demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others. Planning: Ability to perform short- and long-range planning.
