ABOUT THE POSITION
We are looking for a candidate enjoys helping and guiding our students, faculty and staff how to use technology more effectively and who has a passion for working with IT hardware and software. Reporting to the Director of Technology, this position requires functional expertise to support the user community, manage IT technology stacks, and help with IT infrastructure upkeep and transformation.
The ideal candidate has experience and knowledge of multiple aspects of Information technology such as desktop engineering (Mac), Audio/Visual and event support, Google Workspace, server administration, network, SAN storage, and VMware. This person is self-motivated, security focused, customer oriented, and eager to learn and take on new challenges and responsibilities. This is a full time on-site position (not remote).
Technical Support Specialist (50%)
Provide first-line support to end-users, in addressing their IT-related issues and inquiries. Ideally, this person will communicate technical solutions to non-technical users in a clear and understandable manner as well as keep users informed about the status of their issues and provide timely updates on problem resolution.
- Assist users with hardware and software problems, troubleshooting and resolving issues promptly – in person, over the phone, via email.
- Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software components such as computers, printers, operating systems, and applications.
- Provide audio, visual and technical support for meetings and other events.
- Enforce security protocols and ensure the protection of sensitive data.
- Assist in maintaining and updating antivirus software, firewalls, and security patches.
System Administration (50%)
Upkeep existing IT infrastructure and contribute to digital transformation initiatives
- Assist with managing existing VMware environments and updates and upgrades.
- Assist in managing IAM systems including Active Directory and Single Sign on.
- Manage on-premise server rooms including cable management, UPS testing, hardware racking/removal.
- Contribute to managing campus network infrastructure including Cisco firewall, switches, VPN, Wireless controllers and access points.
- Administers Windows based security, including (but not limited to) user/group permissions, file/ folder permissions, and group policies.
- Administer Google Workspace, Zoom, Druva Insync and other SaaS applications.
- Research and propose solutions to improve various processes including (but not limited to) patching management, onboarding and offboarding, endpoint protection, etc.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in CIS, MIS, CS, or related field or commensurate education and experience
- 2+ years of experience in a customer facing environment
Requires:
- Strong, effective and responsive written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent customer relations skills
- Critical thinking and analysis to make effective independent decisions
- Organized, attention to details, and ability to manage a variety of tasks at the same time
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint
- Experience administering Google Workspace or similar collaboration platforms
- Knowledge of Cybersecurity concepts and best practices
- This person must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds as well as be able to kneel, bend, climb ladders and stand and sit for extended periods of time. This person needs the ability to walk throughout the day to various locations on campus.

- Castilleja uses a competitive salary scale which takes into account the range of experience, education and skill level. The yearly salary for this position ranges from $85,000 to $110,000.
