Job description
General Summary of Duties: Provides professional nursing care for clinic patients following established standards and practices. Requires strong clinical and critical thinking skills along with strong IV skills. Must be able to multi-task in a very fast-paced medical office setting.
Example of Duties: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned)
- Performs general nursing care to patients. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
- Prepares equipment and aids physician during treatment, examination, and testing of patients.
- Observes, records, and reports patient's condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physicians. Dispenses medication as directed.
- Assists when necessary with appointment bookings and ensures preferences are given to patients in emergency situations. Maintains timely flow of patients.
- Greets patients and prepares them for physician examination. Screens patients for appropriate information. Instructs patients in collection of samples tests.
- Arranges for patient testing and admissions.
- Responds to and refers incoming telephone calls. Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions.
- Maintains and reviews patient records, charts, and other pertinent information. Posts tests and examination results.
- Maintains exam rooms with necessary supplies and materials. Prepares list of medical supplies needed.
- Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
- Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations. Attends conferences and workshops.
- Maintains patient and office confidentiality.
- Performs related work as required.
Qualifications:
Education: Graduated from an accredited school of nursing.
Experience: Computer experience required.
Certificate/License: Possession of a Florida State Registered Nurse License
