General Summary
The Eastern Michigan University School of Music & Dance invites applications for a Part-Time Lecturer in Choral Music. The successful candidate will teach choral ensemble(s), choral music education/conducting courses, and/or supervise student teachers, based upon the successful candidate's specific qualifications and departmental need. Please note that this part-time appointment (salaried only, no benefits) requires in-person instruction on Eastern Michigan University's campus in Ypsilanti, Michigan. This position will begin in August 2024.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching may include a number of particular obligations which employees are expected to fulfill, including but not limited to: meeting with students during and outside of assigned classes, assessing student work and performance, preparing syllabi and course materials, providing copies of syllabi and course materials to their supervisor on request, and assigning and submitting grades in accordance with established Eastern Michigan University schedules.
Perform related departmental duties as required.Minimum Qualifications:
An earned doctorate in conducting is preferred; a master's degree in conducting or music education is required. Choral ensemble teaching at the secondary level for a minimum of 3 years is required.
