Job description
We are looking to hire an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to inspect, service, and maintain our range of heavy-duty construction equipment. As a mechanic, you will be responsible for inspecting engines and equipment, carrying out services, conducting repairs, and providing routine maintenance to the construction fleet.
To ensure success as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you should have proven experience working with heavy machinery, be physically able to troubleshoot issues on the job site. Ultimately, a top-notch Heavy Equipment Mechanic can repair and service even the biggest machinery with expert care.
Duties Include:
- Analyzes malfunctions and repairs, rebuilds, and maintains construction equipment, such as cranes, power shovels, scrapers, paving machines, motor graders, trench-digging machines, conveyors, bulldozers, dredges, pumps, compressors and pneumatic tools: Operates and inspects machines or equipment to diagnose defects
- Dismantles and reassembles equipment, using hoists and hand tools
- Examines parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges
- Replaces defective engines and subassemblies, such as transmissions
- Tests overhauled equipment to ensure operating efficiency
- Welds broken parts and structural members
- May direct workers engaged in cleaning parts and assisting with assembly and disassembly of equipment.
Requirements:
- Ability to effectively and safely use mechanic’s tools and equipment to diagnose and trouble shoot complex equipment problems
- Ability to communicate equipment issues and understand job assignments
- Ability to prioritize work assignments
- Personal and professional integrity
- Exhibit a clear understanding of the necessity of equipment safety
- Flexibility regarding work assignments
- Must be physically able to work in a job site environment for extensive periods to include lifting up to 50lbs, bending, squatting, crouching, reaching
- Military training highly preferred
- Must have own tools
- Must have own transportation
