Overview The Massage Therapist works within a team environment with a focus on patient centered care. Communicates effectively and positively with staff, patients, families, caregivers and community resources. Able to provide individualized, safe, appropriate and effective therapeutic massage services to oncology patients. Educate patients, family, caregivers and staff on the use of massage in the healing process. Works collaboratively with other members of the treatment team to attain optimal outcomes for patients. Functions as a contact point for patients, medical staff and the community regarding Integrative Oncology philosophy and programs.
What you will do - Acts as liaison between physician, and patients, their families and the community.
- Able to perform ongoing assessment of patients for appropriate therapeutic massage as well as other healing interventions; ascertains precautions/contraindications for massage prior to each session.
- Works collaboratively with the assigned primary nurse and all members of the patient's care team to develop safe and individualized treatments that include therapeutic massage and/or other healing techniques as appropriate. Serves as a liaison to additional professional resources in the community.
- Able to function as a resource for staff, patients, families and the community regarding the general philosophy of Integrative Oncology, the specifics of the PCI program, massage therapy. and additional appropriate healing interventions.
- Seeks out educational and experiential opportunities to further knowledge of massage as well as other healing techniques for the oncology patient.
Qualifications Education - High School Diploma or GED, (Required)
- Program Graduate, Massage Therapy (Required)
Experience - 1 year Massage Therapy (Preferred)
Licenses and Certifications - Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) Upon Hire(Required)
- Certified Auto External Defibrillator (AED) - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required)
