Tommy Zapp with Robert Half has a career-building opportunity for a Staff Accountant with experience and skill to join their team on a permanent basis. As Staff Accountant, you will prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. Throughout the monthly close, you will also be responsible for various aspects of internal reporting. You will assist in developing and implementing accounting policies. Also, you will participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. This position is very involved as it will produce Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Located in the Tucson, Arizona area, this position is a challenging, multi-faceted opportunity to work for a company that recognizes and rewards hard work.
What you get to do every day
- Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules
- Assist with the month end, quarter end and year end closing process by preparing monthly financial close workbooks
- Implement, maintain, and adhere to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
- Manage depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation
- In-depth experience with reconciling month end balance sheet accounts
- Take part in various department-wide initiatives
- Conduct month end close and compose journal entries with minimal supervision
- Ad hoc reporting and performing special projects upon request
- Regular maintenance and reconciliation of journal entries
- Intercompany billings, transactions, and reconciliation
- Coordinate and analyze a variety of financial data, then report it in a way that is useful and understandable
- Compose thorough journal entries and account reconciliations which include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll
- Assemble analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for management reporting
Requirements- Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines
- Demonstrated analytical abilities, tendency to quickly connect dots and surmise logical outcomes
- Self-starter and strong ethical standards
- Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
- BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting or Finance
- Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment, to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent
- Efficient in ERP systems
- Account reconciliation experience
- Command of journal entries
- Solid understanding of month end closings
- Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
- Recent and relevant accounting experience
- Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases
