Salary : $180k - $210k Salary + Bonuses and Excellent Benefits
Job Summary: The General Counsel will be an essential contributor to the growth of the Company, responsible for providing legal counsel and support to all internal company departments including finance, healthcare compliance, human resources, company clinics, franchise operations, franchise development, and marketing. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic leader, with excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, strong time and project management and prioritization skills and have previous experience in franchising. The position reports to the CEO
Job Responsibilities: - Provide legal counsel and support to all internal company departments including finance, human resources, company clinics, franchise development, franchise operations, marketing, and health care compliance.
- Proactively resolve disputes and handle legal matters internally to reduce the costs of using external counsel.
- Retain and manage outside legal counsel and budget. Maintain control over legal strategy, act as liaison between outside legal counsel and internal business departments.
- Advise executives on contract status, legal risks, and business terms of various deals.
- Timely prepare, review, and edit legal documents, contracts, master service agreements, SOW’s, etc.
- Research unique legal issues impacting the organization by identifying applicable statutes, judicial decisions, and codes.
- Keep abreast of legislative changes that may affect the company and its affiliates.
- Maintain appropriate state and local registrations, licenses, and qualifications.
- Participate in the development and oversight of corporate policies, procedures, and programs.
- Franchise Sales and Operations: Collaborate with internal departments and outside counsel to lead the annual FDD renewal process, draft and review franchise agreements, area representative agreements and addendums, review marketing material, handle dispute resolution and franchisee compliance including issuing default letters, termination agreements and pre-litigation matters.
Qualifications: - J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and admission to any state bar
- 5+ years of relevant experience, healthcare compliance a must
- Demonstrates the ability to effectively understand, consider, and address the internal client or business position while mitigating risk exposure.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must possess strong judgment, confidence, collaborative problem-solving skills, and ability to identify potential issues quickly.
- Must be able to independently handle a variety and number of legal matters in a timely fashion with minimal supervision.
- Exceptional ability to schedule and prioritize work and deliverables to address a variety of changing needs.
- Highly organized and driven to thoroughly understand the issue and the possible implications of legal guidance both from a legal and business perspective.
