The South Dakota Accessible Library Services (ALS) serves patrons with print disabilities across the state of South Dakota, in partnership with the Library of Congress's National Library Service. These patrons may have visual impairments, physical impairments, or reading disabilities. The library provides a variety of resources, including books, magazines, DVD's, virtual programming, equipment, and support.

The SD ALS also works closely with partner libraries and institutions around the state to provide resources, information, and support to create depositories for patrons to visit and try out equipment and services before committing to sign up. The library also has a robust volunteer program which brings interested individuals in to record and edit materials of South Dakota interest for our patrons.

This position is the primary point of contact for all institutional and community partners. The incumbent is responsible for creating innovative trainings using Zoom and other virtual tools to be in contact with partners annually. The incumbent may visit institutions needing more direct instruction and support. This position will keep detailed notes of patron interactions and records of outreach efforts and training outcomes.

This position is also responsible for making significant inroads with isolated and underserved populations in South Dakota. This includes rural residents without easy access to libraries, Native American tribes, and non-English speakers.

This position will also take over significant portions of cataloging maintenance. Updating of book records, searching for additional information to provide most up to date monograph and collection information, and keen attention to detail will help our patrons find the books and materials they want to read.

A bachelor's degree preferred.
