Pay : $70,000 - $85,000 per year

We serve a variety of industries including but not limited to Energy, Agriculture, Aggregate, and Transit. Job Summary:
We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Accountant to join our railroad construction company. As an Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in managing the company's financial transactions, reporting, and analysis. Your responsibilities will include preparing financial statements, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulatory requirements. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the success and growth of our company in the railroad construction industry.
Responsibilities and Duties
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities.
- Provide insights and recommendations based on financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and business planning.
General Ledger Management:
- Maintain the general ledger by recording journal entries, accruals, and adjustments accurately and timely.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including bank accounts, accounts receivable, and accounts payable, to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies or variances in account balances, collaborating with other departments as needed.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist in the development and monitoring of annual operating budgets and long-term financial forecasts.
- Track budget performance, analyze variances, and provide explanations for budget-to-actual differences.
- Participate in budgeting meetings and provide input on budget assumptions, goals, and targets.
Accounts Receivable and Payable:
- Support accounts receivable and accounts payable functions as needed, including invoicing, payment processing, and collections.
- Review and analyze aging reports, follow up on overdue invoices, and communicate with customers and vendors regarding payment status and inquiries.
- Ensure compliance with payment terms, credit policies, and internal controls related to accounts receivable and payable processes.
- Tax Compliance and Reporting:
- Assist in the preparation of tax filings, including sales tax, use tax, and corporate income tax returns.
- Maintain tax records and documentation, ensuring compliance with tax regulations and timely submission of required filings.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors and auditors to support tax planning and compliance efforts.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting roles, preferably in the construction or engineering industry.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems, with advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to interpret financial data and communicate insights effectively.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting and analysis.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
