Job description
The University of Iowa's College of Dentistry is looking for a full time Dental Assistant to join us as a key member of our team in Prosthodontics to work alongside dental students, graduate students, and faculty. Interact with patients, assist with the management of patients, train dental students in operation of the clinic, develop radiographs and chairside dental assisting. Duties
· Chairside assisting, prosthodontics.
· Make radiographs.
· Assist in lab duties, make alginate impressions, custom trays, record bases, and bleaching trays.
· Set up clinical trays for faculty and residents.
· Instruct residents on material use.
· Explain clinical operation policies and procedures to students, grads, and faculty.
· Inventory control.
· Maintain asepsis control.
· Other duties as assigned.

Salary: $44,560.96(Pay Grade: 08)
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm - May require occasional overtime .
An advanced starting salary may be possible based on exceptional qualifications.
MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
1. Successful completion of an CODA accredited dental assistance program or one year full time equivalency in chairside assistant experience assisting in four-handed method of dentistry.
2. Must have a current certificate of registration to practice as a dental assistant issued by the Iowa Board of Dental Examiners. (QDA)
3. Must possess current Iowa certificate of proficiency in dental radiography. (QDA)
4. No additional work experience beyond the requirements for this position.
5. May require Expanded Functions (EF-1 and/or EF-2) based on specific needs assigned by provider.
Desirable Qualifications:
· Prosthodontic experience.
· Surgical Implant Experience.
· Experience with Elderly and Medically Compromised Patients.
· Computer experience with dental office software.
· Experience with 3D printing
· Expanded function (EF-1)
