The Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) is looking for a customer-focused, bilingual individual to support migrant education.


The Migrant Education Assistant will assist and support Parent Mentors and Parent Advisory Councils in training, engagement, and resources; prepare and review a variety of migrant education reports and data for compliance and completeness; assist with coordinating parent education conferences and regional trainings for family literacy programs; and solicit and explain program related information to and from students and families.

Required Education and Experience

Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent.



Experience: Two years of experience assisting parents and families with social services program information and requirements.



Additional Requirements: Some positions in this classification require passing a test of bilingual proficiency in oral and written Spanish. A valid California driver's license and the availability of private transportation or the ability to provide transportation between job sites may be required.


Hybrid remote schedules may be available.



Selection Process

Candidates who meet the minimum requirements above will be invited to participate in an examination that may consist of a Written Exam, Performance Exam, Bilingual Spanish Written Exam, Bilingual Spanish Oral Exam, and Structured Interview.

Selection and promotion are based on a competitive examination process. Candidates who pass all exam parts are ranked according to overall exam score and placed on an eligibility (hiring) list. Vacant positions are filled from the top three ranks. Some positions that involve public contact may require bilingual proficiency for which selective certification may apply (Education Code 45277.5).
