Summary
PGE Grid Operations ensures the delivery of safe and reliable power to our customers while enabling the integration of renewable resources, distributed energy resources, and the expansion of distribution automation.
Several NERC/WECC reliability standards apply to Grid Operations; failure to comply with such standards jeopardizes the reliability of the Bulk Electric System and could incur fines.
The Grid Operations Compliance Engineer works directly with system operators and compliance professionals throughout the company to ensure robust compliance with NERC/WECC reliability standards. This position assesses, reports, and improves compliance with multiple reliability standards.
Responsibilities
Provides technical expertise and oversight to ensure compliance with NERC/WECC reliability standards applicable to Grid Operations; prepares documentation and represents PGE as a primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) in support of the WECC audit process of the NERC reliability standards; consults with other PGE workgroups to assist in their compliance efforts.
Identifies existing or potential gaps and builds internal controls to prevent lapses in compliance; supports company-wide efforts to inventory and test internal controls.
Drafts and maintains operating procedures for system operators; provides, solicits, and incorporates feedback to update procedures as technical and regulatory conditions change; provides operator training on procedures as necessary.
Acts as a primary SME in the NERC standards development process and for internal initiatives impacting PGE’s ability to comply with new and rapidly changing standards.
Provides direct support to system operators during difficult weather events and other emergency situations to ensure system events are reported in real-time as required by various standards.
Develops and provides operator training on compliance and related topics.
Represents PGE in external stakeholder initiatives and workgroups conducted by RC West and WECC
Qualifications
Required:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program or program accredited by an equivalent agency.
For the Senior - Eight or more years in engineering or five or more years in a related field with PE license.
For the Principal - Ten or more years in engineering.
NERC Reliability Coordinator (RC) Certification or ability to obtain certification within a year
Preferred:
Professional Engineering (PE) license

Compensation Range:
$81,450.00 - $189,875.00In addition, this position is eligible for a performance-based incentive bonus. Actual total compensation is commensurate with experience, skills, and education
