Job description
Provide support on design, equipment, safety, and operational requirements to Substation Engineers and Designers on a program level. Mentor and review products of other staff and ensure consistency between regions and disciplines. Assure designs are constructible and compliant with OSHA, GTC design standards, and applicable safety policies. Provide technical expertise, and investigate special projects and new equipment technology as assigned by management. Performs as the Subject Matter Expert for all construction specifications and worker safety programs. Develop drawing packages, specifications, estimates, bill of materials, and associated plans to construct or modify electrical substations. Promote an environment of continuous improvement and support to meet corporate goals and objectives. Assist in troubleshooting construction delays and develop unique design solutions when required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Associate Degree in Engineering Technology or related field.
Experience: Twelve (12) years in substation construction, design, operations, testing, or maintenance.
Equivalent Experience: High school or equivalent with Twenty-five (25) years of experience in substation construction, design, operations, testing, or maintenance.
Licenses/Certificates: GA Driver's License, ITS Qualified Operator, Concrete Inspector, OSHA Competent Person
Specialized Skills (e.g., computers, software): Excellent verbal and written communication skills, Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD. A plus is someone who possesses a strong knowledge of codes and standards (NESC, and applicable IEEE, ANSI, OSHA, and ACI).
Must be able to pass a NERC CIP personnel risk assessment screening.
