Position Description

The Materials Assistant works in the Purchasing Department with the Materials Manager. The Assistant helps when / where needed to ensure the Medical Center has the needed equipment, stock and supplies to operate. The job includes but is not limited to:

Mail - Meter all outgoing mail / packages and take to the Post Office

Retrieve incoming mail from Post Office Box. Stamp all mail "Received" with the current date and deliver to proper in-house mail boxes. Deliver packages to the correct department

Receive, sticker and put away new stock when it comes in using departments proper procedures

Input outdates in Excel spreadsheet when received

Re-stock departments and fulfil any requisition for supplies sent to Materials Management

Expense items to correct departments when taken from inventor daily

Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

High School diploma with some college, experience in healthcare environment and with inventory preferable

This job requires frequent bending, walking and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Computer experience helpful, especially Excel, Word, Outlook and the ability to type

Able to deal with high demand, fast paced multi-departmental hospital needs. The individual must be highly organized and task oriented. Must possess the ability to prioritize responsibilities and handle multiple requests simultaneously
