Job description

McCormick & Company, Inc., a global leader in the spice, flavor, and seasonings industry, is seeking a full-time Crew Leader in the Warehouse. This new hire will work at the Springfield Plant. The Crew Leader will report to the Warehouse Department Manager .

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Through the direction of the Team Manager, the Crew Leader ensures overall performance of the team to meetobjectives for scorecard metrics and OGSM’s for cost, quality assurance, inventory control, HazMat shippingcompliance and training (ground, air, ocean), safety, sanitation, service, sustainability, organizational health, GMPs,and distribution reliability.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensures overall performance of the team to include quality, safety, reliability, waste and sanitation to achievebusiness goals.
Pro-actively encourages continuous improvement and daily problem solving initiatives to increaseoperational eff ectiveness and effi ciencies.
Coaches, trains, and ensures compliance to plant established procedures (including work rule, safety andsanitation guidelines) while demonstrating a deep respect for the capabilities of all people.
Ensures that all activities follow documented operating procedures and recommends updates to existingprocedures as required.
Coordinates & schedules crew vacation requests & overtime.
Determines needs and conducts training required for new & existing employees.
Ensures product meets quality standards, coordinates problem solving directly with QA fl oor inspector.
Resolves minor mechanical and processing problems and makes necessary adjustments to keep linerunning.
Performs job tasks of other team members of jobs of equal or lower grades.
Facilitates teamwork and coaching among team members.
Holds meetings for production tracking, problem solving and team development.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Three years of manufacturing and/or industrial experience required.
Demonstrated ability to perform changeovers and preventative maintenance on all production equipmentrequired.
Demonstrated ability to diagnose mechanical problems and resolve minor mechanical and processingproblems required.
Demonstrated ability to understand fi nancial impact of business decision aff ecting staffi ng, productcomponents and inventory required.
Demonstrated computer skills, including knowledge of Excel, Word, statistical database applications & LotusNotes required.
Demonstrated ability to pro-actively encourage continuous improvement and daily problem solving initiativesrequired.
Proven ability to coach, train and infl uence while demonstrating a deep respect for the capabilities of allpeople required.
Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills required
Demonstrated analytical, critical thinking skills to determine risk assessment required.
Ability to work overtime/weekends required.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of SAP, Infi nity, Power Point, Access preferred.
Demonstrated practice of leadership principles required and formal leadership training strongly preferred.
Demonstrated competency to operate all equipment in the business strongly preferred.
Experience eff ectively leading and facilitating team and cross-functional meetings strongly preferred
