Job description
Derrevere Stevens Black & Cozad is searching for a highly-skilled Plaintiff Personal Injury/Wrongful Death Civil Litigation Paralegal to work remotely with our Florida team. The position is part-time , 100% work-from-home and will utilize cutting-edge legal technology and case management systems. Our ideal candidate is someone who possesses a strong work ethic and knows how to proactively manage a case under attorney supervision from inception through trial. Salary is commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities :
- Conduct pre-claim investigation, legal research and initial case assessments for attorneys;
- Prepare pre-suit demand packages
- Prepare legal documents to include pleadings, motions, discovery, proposed orders, case management orders etc.
- Managing multiple attorneys' calendars and coordinating schedules
- Manage court dockets and deadlines and compliance with same
- Document redaction and discovery production review
- Assist in locating, retaining and working with experts
- Performing all e-filing throughout Florida jurisdictions and compliance with various court and judicial procedures
- Prepare file indexes, depo summaries and med chrons
- Maintain and organize electronic file, including associating all email correspondence and documents to proper cases
- Assist in hearing prep, mediation prep, pre-depo and deposition prep and trial attendance
Requirements :
- Minimum of 5 years previous experience as a Florida paralegal in a litigation office setting;
- Must have an in depth knowledge of motions, discovery, litigation documentation, court rules, Florida Rules of Civil Procedure, procedures, etc.
- Must have prior experience in drafting legal documents including pleadings, motions, notices, proposed orders, and discovery
- Must have a working knowledge of Florida civil procedures and deadlines
- Must be familiar with Florida court e-filing and e-service
- Must be proficient in legal research and document drafting
- Must be competent and proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe
- Must have prior experience in managing attorney calendars and scheduling
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of managing deadlines, and can take initiative on proactively moving a case from inception through pre-suit, litigation, trial and post-trial
- Must be proficient in following up on tasks and following procedures
- Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced evolving environment and be a team player
- Must have familiarity with liens and collateral sources
- Experience using NetDocuments is a plus
- Experience in Florida Federal courts is a plus
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, assignments and deadlines;
