Job description

Responsible to: Human Resources Director

Hours: 32 - 40 hours/week

Schedule: Monday - Friday

Pay Range: $25.25 - 37.87

Job Summary:

The HR Generalist will be assigned projects or ongoing responsibilities in a variety of human resource functions including: recruitment, benefit administration, compensation, staff development and performance, statutory leave processing, documentation maintenance, employee health & wellness, compliance, and employee events. This position requires tact and discretion in dealing with sensitive issues in a confidential and professional manner.

Education & License Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree required. PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

A minimum of three years of progressively responsible administrative work is required. Prior HR experience is desirable. Must be collaborative with a willingness and ability to be flexible as needs change. Must have proficiency in word processing, database maintenance, and spreadsheet management. Must demonstrate initiative and assure consistent follow-through. Must be skilled in establishing and maintaining effective internal and external working relationships. Must be able to communicate and present information in a way that strongly supports the organization’s image as a quality healthcare employer. Business writing experience is required, along with a working knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

Essential Job Functions:

Organize work tasks, assuring quality work product, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Create postings for vacant positions, including any needed advertisement arrangements.

Screen and process employment applications received, generate follow-up communication with applicants.

Coordinate recruitment efforts and make arrangements with outside recruitment agencies as needed.

Update job descriptions on an ongoing basis to accurately reflect pertinent position details.

Arrange and manage annual in-service program and performance review system.

Maintain employee database and personnel records, organize, file, purge, scan, and fax confidential documents.

Track professional license and certification renewal deadline compliance.

Review benefit enrollment, audit changes, and monitor ACA system.

Assist with statutory leave, sick leave, employment verification, workers’ comp, and unemployment claims.

Help with HR documentation follow-up, research, exit interviews, HR metrics, and survey compilation tasks.

Develop employee recognition activities that support retention and deepen organizational culture.

Handle questions & concerns in a professional manner.

Serve as a resource for various HR-related topics, with demonstrated critical thinking skills.

Assure exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication with a service-oriented focus.

Function independently, multi-task, prioritize workload effectively, and manage time efficiently.

Demonstrate sound judgment, appropriate decision-making, and resourcefulness.

Solve problems creatively by taking into account multiple points of view.

Exercise tact, diplomacy, and maintain a strict adherence to confidentiality.

Maintain proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of software.

Complete a variety of related human resources projects and other duties as assigned.
