Overview

The Lab Technician is part of the team that produces cannabis oil extract through various techniques and processing. The position also records processes through state tracking system (METRC) and company batch log documentation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintains laboratory supplies through inventory, places orders, verifies receipt.
• Prepares material for extraction using a pneumatic press.
• Performs extractions on cannabis material using hydrocarbons as solvents.
• Follows equipment operating instructions, troubleshoots breakdowns, maintains supplies, performs preventive maintenance, calls for repairs.
• Documents information using daily logs and equipment record books.
• Examines and evaluates data to resolve problems, selects corrective steps.
• Participates in educational opportunities, and reads technical publications.
• Sets up laboratory equipment and instrumentation as required.
• Maintains laboratory equipment and facilities in a clean and sterile condition, prepares and standardizes all solutions used, maintains records of work performed, and maintains inventories of supplies, materials, and chemicals.
• Installs sampling devices, cleans laboratory tools and equipment, troubleshoots malfunctions and maintains laboratory equipment and instrumentation, and assists in developing and reviewing laboratory procedures.
• Performs other duties as required.

• OLCC Marijuana Workers Permit

Qualifications

• Relevant practical laboratory work experience is helpful, but not required.
• EPA Handcard, not required but preferred

Warehouse environment:

• This position is in a general warehouse environment with moderate to loud noise.
• Frequently stand and/or sit for 6+ hours at a time.
• Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, in multi-temperature environments ranging from 60F to 100F.
• Consistently around plant material, working with hands

Desired Education

A science degree is not always necessary, although good qualifications in appropriate scientific subjects are helpful. Appropriate subjects include, but are not limited to biology, biochemistry, chemistry, and life/medical/physical sciences.
