Position Overview
As a Business Development Rep, you will play a pivotal role on our sales team. Your primary responsibility will be to generate high-quality leads to support and enhance the efforts of a more senior salesperson, who will serve as your mentor. You will be equipped with the necessary tools and training to effectively identify and engage potential clients. This role will help you develop the foundation for a successful career in tech sales and is designed for growth and learning, offering you the tools and experiences necessary to advance in your tech sales career.
NOTE - this is a hybrid role with three days per week in office required.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead Generation and Qualification :
- Utilize various research methods, including online databases, social media, and industry events, to identify potential leads
- Evaluate the potential needs of the client and their compatibility with the company's products or services
- Make initial contact with potential leads through cold calling, email campaigns, or social media outreach
- Scheduling and Coordination :
- Arrange meetings or calls between qualified leads and the senior salesperson
- Manage the calendar for sales appointments, ensuring efficient use of the senior salesperson’s time
- Follow up with leads after meetings to gather feedback and further gauge interest
- Database Management :
- Maintain detailed records of lead interactions in the customer relationship management (CRM) system
- Regularly update lead status and ensure accurate tracking of sales pipeline stages
- Analyze data from the CRM to help refine lead generation strategies
- Collaboration and Training :
- Regularly meet with the senior salesperson for mentorship and to discuss strategies
- Participate in team meetings to understand broader sales goals and initiatives
- Attend formal training sessions and workshops to enhance sales skills and product knowledge
- Sales Support and Documentation:
- Assist in the preparation of sales presentations or proposals
- Help gather market intelligence and customer feedback to inform sales strategies
- Provide administrative support as needed, such as managing sales-related documentation and correspondence.
- Continued Learning and Professional Development :
- Stay updated on industry trends, new products, and competitive landscape
- Engage in self-directed learning about sales techniques and the tech industry
- Seek feedback from peers and mentors to continuously improve sales skills
Required Skills:
- Educational Background :
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Information Technology, or a related field. While a degree is preferred, candidates with relevant experience or proven sales skills may also be considered.
- Skills :
- Sales Skills: Basic understanding of sales principles and customer service practices a plus, but not required for stellar candidates
- Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate with potential clients and team members clearly and effectively
- Research and Analytical Skills: Capability to conduct thorough research and analyze data to identify viable leads
- Organizational Skills: Strong time-management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently
- Technical Proficiency: Comfortable using CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite, and other sales-related tools
