Associate Project Developer - Hawaii AES Clean Energy (AES) is currently seeking an Associate Project Developer to assist origination, development and project execution of solar, solar + storage and standalone storage projects in the Hawaii market as a member of AES's Development team. The successful candidate will work on a variety of key tasks within the development team throughout the project lifecycle providing project support to help these innovative and exciting renewable energy projects reach construction and come to fruition. The position will be remote in Hawaii and will report to the Senior Manager, Project Development - Hawaii. The successful candidate will support and eventually lead project development efforts for AES CE's pipeline in Hawaii. The role requires the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, attention to detail and travel as needed. The successful candidate will work on a cross functional team with origination, legal, finance, engineering, construction, outside consultants, landowners, customers, project stakeholders and utility companies. The role requires project management knowledge and renewable energy industry experience. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with all aspects of development for greenfield projects from after origination through to construction commencement
- Prepare and advance projects to be ready for submission into commercial RFPs.
- Develop and manage project development schedules and budgets
- Participate in project meetings with internal and external stakeholders
- Review contract obligations in key project documents
- Assist Project Discretionary Permitting including permit strategy, tracking permit efforts, working with local AHJs, presenting at permit hearings
- Coordinate for delivery of site and environmental studies, surveys and diligence reports
- Coordinate Interconnection process with utility company
- Work with internal and external Engineering teams as they progress engineering and design
- Work with internal construction management team on contractor selection process
- Coordinate with construction management team on securing ministerial permits
- Handoff projects once fully developed and permitted to construction management team
- Participate in project financings answering relevant diligence questions and providing required documents
- Provide support and analysis for new Business Development opportunities in Hawaii
- Assist the Development team as needed and applicable on upfront origination efforts
Skills and Qualifications: - 1 - 3 years relevant experience
- Undergraduate degree, preferably in Engineering, Project Management, Energy, Environmental Studies, or Business.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite, QuickBase, Box, Microsoft Teams, MS Project
- Strong computer and analytical skills
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
- Experience and passion in renewable energy technologies
- Self-starter, very self-reliant and capable of operating with minimum supervision
- Experience utilizing CRM systems
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Able to work supportively and collaboratively with other teams
- Comfortable coordinating across functional teams
- Ability to identify key priorities among various requests

The expected salary for this position, at commencement of employment, is between $85.000 and $106.250/Annual; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements such as annual bonus, in addition to a full range of medical, dental, vision, life, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.
