Job Title: Human Resources Manager
Department: Human Resources/ Administrative
Status: Full -Time; Salaried / Exempt
Reports to: Owner

Job Summary
As an integral part of a small, dynamic team, the Human Resources Manager will administer all human resource activities of the business including talent recruitment, compensation and benefits, employee relations, and compliance.

Minimum Qualifications
•  At least 5 years of progressive human resources experience in agriculture or a related industry; or a 4-year college degree and at least 2 years of related experience; or a
2-year college degree and 3 or more years of related experience.
•  Fluent in both English and Spanish
•  Robust knowledge of California and Federal agricultural labor and employment laws and HR best practices
•  Demonstrable experience with HR metrics and knowledge of HR systems and databases (AgCode, Datatech experience preferred)
•  Ability to assimilate/ distill complex information and communicate effectively across all organizational levels
•  Proven leadership and team-building skills; exemplary level of professionalism in all employee and business matters
•  Excellent organizational and analytical skills; resourceful, adaptive, and solutions based.
•  Skilled in the use of MS Word and MS Excel at an intermediate level
•  Physical ability to travel by automobile and out into the vineyards; ability to sit at and operate a computer for at least two-hour intervals, physically able to lift and carry 15 lbs.

Essential Functions
•  Facilitate employee recruitment and onboarding; provide tools and training required for new hires
•  Organize and maintain central personnel files and records (i.e. job descriptions, performance coaching, records, salary etc.)
•  Field current and prospective employee questions
•  Cultivate a company culture that is progressive, inclusive, and collaborative
•  Work closely with leadership to actively refine policies and processes to enhance the level of equity and inclusivity for the entire team
•  Regularly assess organizational systems and perform data analysis to understand and improve systems in place
•  Administer payroll procedures, ensuring compliance with laws and tax obligations and maintaining accurate payroll records
•  Manage benefits programs (enrollment and administration)
•  Analyze and make recommendations on compensation and benefits policies to establish competitive programs
•  Be committed to employee engagement and empowerment. Plan to spend an average of 30% time in the field
•  Communicate with team in a manner that enhances employee’s ability (at all levels) to interpret information and successfully meet requirements
•  Serve as a link between leadership and employees by handling questions, interpreting, and helping resolve work-related problems
•  Use a strengths-based approach to manage personnel issues including enforcement of policies, use of progressive discipline, & terminations, as necessary
•  Proactively identify and advise leadership on organizational policy matters and recommend needed changes
•  Identify and ensure legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting the Human Resources function (OSHA, EEO, Wage & Hour, etc.) are managed to proactively minimize exposure. Be able to identify when to seek outside counsel
•  Complete and submit various government reports – EEO, EDD, ACA
•  Regularly review and update HR related forms and materials to ensure compliance with state and federal labor laws
•  Administer worker's compensation procedures
•  Supervise/partner with Safety Manager to enhance employee wellness and safety and ensure compliance with all State, Federal and OSHA laws
