Position Summary

This position with be used to fill one (1) part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Student Technical Assistant positions for the Department of Food Science and Technology (FST) at Oregon State University (OSU).


Performs undergraduate research or field work in support of Dr. Joy Waite-Cusic’s food safety/food microbiology research program.


The anticipated hourly wage is $15.00.



Position Duties

Duties will be determined by Dr. Waite-Cusic, but may include research collaboration and related field work, data gathering and analysis, writing research reports and papers, and other duties as assigned.



85% Design, carry out, interpret, and report on experiments dealing with food microbiology. The candidate must analyze data, document activity, draw conclusions, and write up findings to be included in reports published in journals and/or presented at conferences. The position will also include organizational work pertaining to this topic, including documentation of appropriate samples and relevant experimental methods.



15% Of the work will include some elementary laboratory organization/design, where needed, in order to increase the laboratory’s efficiency for such experiments.
