Job Description Summary
The CMC Process Analytics Engineer has responsibility for supporting product & process yield for the Ceramic Matrix Composite (CMC) component manufacturing facility in Asheville. In this role, the CMC Process Analytics Engineer will utilize data analytics and data visualization of the manufacturing process to supply live process capability (Cpk) at each process step for Asheville components. This includes working cross-functionally through the CMC Integrated Product Team and assisting in developing long-term predictive analytical tools. The CMC Process Analytics Engineer will lead all aspects of process excellence.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Develop Statistical Process Control (SPC) visualizations, predictive analytics, and other internal software tools in order to simplify and drive Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) at each process step to meet Business goals.
- Find and interpret data sources, manage large amounts of data, merge data sources together, ensure consistency and quality of data sets, create visualizations to aid in the understanding of data, communicates insights/findings in simplified ways to reach people who may not understand the complex statistics/mathematics.
- Partner with cross-functional data analysts and other digital technologists to drive actions with the appropriate owners of each process step.
- Partner with Process and Quality Engineering teams to drive process control and maximize yield.
- Partner with the CMC Integrated Product Team (IPT) cross-functionally (such as Materials Applications Engineers (MAE’s), Design Engineers, Quality, etc.) to establish predictive means of understanding material correlation with manufacturing processes that impact yield.
- Use discovered or available data to drive the process to be insensitive to material.
- Responsible for driving special projects to ensure effective industrialization through process and product improvements.
- Work boundlessly with all organizations (including Cincinnati, Huntsville, Newark, Asheville, etc.) in enabling effective parts/product/process industrialization yields.
- Work autonomously, as well as collaboratively, to identify needs while providing proactive support to manufacturing teams in enhancing production yield and process capability.
- Articulate progression of projects to all facets of the Business (including technicians, process engineers, site leadership & executive business leaders) ensuring efforts support business goals & objectives.
- Perform other duties as needed to support 24/7 manufacturing processes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of manufacturing engineering, software engineering, Data Science or Data Analytics experience, or a combination).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience related to manufacturing
Desired Characteristics
- Experience in Data Analytics and/or Data visualization.
- Experience in programming/scripting with Python or R languages.
- Ability & willingness to support 24/7 manufacturing facility.
- Demonstrated success in improving yield and/or process capabilities of manufacturing processes, leveraging statistical analysis and/or process control.
- Ability to adapt to Business needs and changing priorities.
- Demonstrated strong mathematical, analytical, communication (written/oral) & presentation skills.
- Experience supporting and/or working in composite (PMC and/or CMC) design, quality, testing, analysis, specification, processing and/or manufacturing environment.
- Strong experience with data visualization tools, such as Tibco Spotfire and/or Tableau.
- DMAIC and/or DFSS Green Belt and/or passion for driving Continuous Process Improvement.
- Experience developing and/or driving PFMEA & Control mechanisms.
- Strong experience driving Root Cause Analysis / Corrective Action (RCCA)
- Experience & understanding of measurement of process capability
- Experience in influencing others / building team collaboration / acceptance.
- Ability & willingness to expand expertise in statistical analysis.
- Strong acumen in cross functional communications & engagement.
- Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing principles and/or experience.
- Ability to analyze and resolve problems with sense of urgency.
- Ability to lead programs / projects with established project management skills.
