Job description
Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician (MT) works as part of the plant maintenance team, providing maintenance support for press and finishing equipment, as well as for building systems and facilities. He/she works collaboratively with the rest of the production and administrative staff in delivering to our customers the highest level of product quality and service.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- The MT is responsible for working in a safe manner and maintaining a safe work environment per the following:
- Equipment - the safe usage and operation of manufacturing and maintenance equipment and tools
- PPE (personal protective equipment) - the proper and safe use of PPE equipment and materials
- Workplace - maintenance of work areas that are safe clean, and organized
- Safety protocols - compliance with OHSA standards regarding but not limited to such things as lockout/tagout, fall protection, and forklift operation; as well as compliance with all company safety policies and procedures
- Materials and supplies - safe and proper use and handling of all materials and supplies, including hazardous chemicals
- Employee behavior - acting and communicating in a safe, professional, and respectful manner
- Maintain positive and respectful working relationships with coworkers, exemplifying the cultural values of RPI - passion, commitment, adaptability, trust, and entrepreneurship
- Respond and communicate in a timely manner regarding HelpDesk tickets and other requests to resolve problems related to maintenance
- Provide Level 2 repairs and preventive maintenance for HP Series 3 and web presses. Perform basic support on HP series 4 presses. Work with HP shared maintenance on more technical problems. Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair finishing equipment.
- Provide basic maintenance for building systems and facilities
- Maintain accurate paper and computer records
- Manage maintenance parts and supplies inventory
- Keep the maintenance area and work sites organized and clean - including tools, workbench, active projects, parts, and supplies
- Contribute ideas to ensure and improve the safety, security and effectiveness of the workplace
- Other duties and tasks as needed or assigned, including assisting with manufacturing tasks
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Safe and professional operation of manual, power and diagnostic tools required for facility and equipment maintenance
- Work effectually within a collaborative team
- Basic knowledge of building systems such as electrical, lighting, plumbing, ventilation, security and fire
- Basic building skills such as carpentry, painting, sheetrock
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent personal and job organizational work habits
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word and Excel)
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours as needed, including holidays, weekends and overtime as required by supervisor
Education and Experience:
- Vocational education or minimum three years of experience in equipment maintenance
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- OSHA training certification
- Forklift certification
- Current valid driver's license and clean driving record, insurable to operate company vehicles
Physical Requirements:
- Stand and walk for extended periods
- Work at heights on a ladder or scissor lift
- Work within a moderately loud environment
- Work within varying environmental temperatures from hot to cold
- Able to grasp, reach, stoop
- Ability to lift 75 lbs.
