DIVISION: Community Services

JOB TITLE: CFS Coordinator

POSITION STATUS: Regular, Full-Time

EXEMPT STATUS: Non-exempt

PAY SCALE GRADE: 10-11-12

REPORTS TO: CFS/CAC Program Director

BRIEF SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

1) Assist in the development, implementation, coordination, and performance of program operations as assigned and as outlined in the program goals and objectives of Children and Family Services

2) Conduct ongoing Diligent Relative Searches to identify potential relative placements for tribal children in out-of-home care in compliance with the Fostering Connections to Success and Increasing Adoptions Act of 2008 and applicable policies and procedures.

2(a) Complete and maintain written documentation of all search efforts and contacts to include data collection and reporting. Maintain statistical information for program reporting requirements.

2(b) Communicate with potential relative placements to inform, obtain contact information and outline placement and permanency options.

3) Maintains confidential client records per required standards and applicable Confidentiality Agreements.

4) Provide safety assessments of unlicensed relative homes. Conduct background checks and document information into the database.

5) Coordinate and supervise family contact with parents, grandparents, and siblings of children in OCS custody. Complete the Family Contact Observation form and document in the database.

6) Provide support and coordination for teleconferences, in-person meetings, and special projects associated with the Tribal-State Compact Agreement and applicable Support Services Funding Agreements (SSFA) when needed.

7) Attend meetings conferences, trainings, court hearings, etc. which may require travel during weekends, evenings and holidays.

8) Other duties as assigned by the CFS/CAC Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1) High School Diploma or GED equivalent plus six (6) months experience in the human services field.

2) Experience in child protective services, knowledge of the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) and the role of tribes in Child in Need of Aid (CINA) cases.

3) Must possess strong oral, written communication and organizational skills.

4) Must possess computer, keyboarding, and office skills required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and strong internet usage, web-based research required.

5) Must be dependable, self-motivated, and work with minimal supervision.

6) The ability to multi-task, organize work and problem solve.

7) Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds.

8) Must maintain strict client confidentiality.

9) Must possess a valid Alaska driver’s license and have a good driving record.

10) Must be willing and able to travel

11) This position is a Covered Position subject to all requirements of the Alaska Barrier Crimes Act AS 47.05.310-47.05.390, 7 AAC 10.900-10.990, and to the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act, 25 USC 3201-3211 (ICPA). A background check clearance is required, including fingerprints, and the employee’s name will be submitted to the Background Check Unit of the State of Alaska Department of Health and Social Services and entered into their central registry. Barrier Crimes Act and ICPA requirements apply and must be complied with at all times in order to remain in the position.
