Job Overview:
As an MRI Technologist you will be responsible for operating magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment to produce highquality images for diagnostic purposes. Your role is essential in contributing to the accurate and timely diagnosis of medical conditions requiring technical expertise attention to detail and a commitment to providing excellent patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- MRI Imaging:
- Perform MRI scans according to established protocols and physician orders.
- Ensure patient safety and comfort during imaging procedures.
- Equipment Operation:
- Operate and maintain MRI imaging equipment ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate maintenance as needed.
- Patient Preparation:
- Prepare patients for MRI scans explaining procedures and addressing any concerns.
- Administer contrast agents as required for specific imaging studies.
- Image Quality and Accuracy:
- Monitor and review MRI images to ensure diagnostic quality and accuracy.
- Collaborate with radiologists and healthcare providers to obtain additional imaging views when necessary.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and complete records of patient information examination details and imaging protocols.
- Adhere to documentation and reporting standards.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Follow radiation safety protocols and guidelines to minimize exposure to patients and staff.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and departmental policies.
- Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other imaging technologists and healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings as needed.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field.
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification in MRI.
- State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist.
Skills:
- Proficiency in operating MRI imaging equipment.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy physiology and medical terminology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience:
- Previous experience as an MRI Technologist is preferred.
- Familiarity with Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) and Radiology Information Systems (RIS).
