Job description
We are seeking a Facilities Specialist to support the Pilot Bioproduction Facility (PBF) at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) in Silver Spring, Maryland. The Facilities Specialist will be a member of the Engineering and Facilities Team (E&F) for the WRAIR PBF Building. E&F is responsible for oversight of the building and manufacturing infrastructure, environment, equipment, and utilities. This position will be responsible for executing the day-to-day operational activities required for that oversight. A candidate for this position will need to be a self-starter with strong communication skills and an ability to manage their own schedule, based on department and site goals and priorities.

▪ A technical degree or diploma in engineering or engineering technology is preferred .
▪ Strong communication skills to support coordination efforts between internal teams, contractors, facilities maintenance teams, etc.
▪ Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical , and plumbing systems .
▪ A minimum of 5 years of experience working in a GMP facility .
▪ Working knowledge of common equipment found in a biotech production facility, including bioreactors , autoclaves, part washers, incubators, chromatography systems, filtration systems, etc. is preferred .
▪ Proficient in general GMP documentation practices, processes, and procedures .
▪ Ability to review, interpret, and document routine maintenance and calibration reports performed by third parties in the facility .
▪ Effective at handling equipment failures and site emergencies, with a focus on personnel and product safety .
