Job Summary: The Bookkeeper II is responsible for processing, monitoring, and managing the District's financial transactions. Duties also include maintaining accurate records as they relate to the National School Lunch Program and the Child and Adult Care Food Program and billing of various school fees.
Job Duties/Essential Functions: - Maintains an electronic record of all monies due to the District and prepares invoices as needed.
- Assist parents in resolving student account issues.
- Mail letters to parents/guardians for fees owed.
- Assist retirees with credit card insurance transactions.
- Monitors receipt of receivables as advised by the Controller.
- Counts all cash and receipts and prepares bank deposits as necessary including Activity Fund and Imprest Fund deposits.
- Prepares monthly reconciliation and distribution of the general bank depository account.
- Coordinates and assists with student registration.
- Creates monthly payroll summary report for the board agenda.
- Works with building principals, assistant principals, and secretaries in the collection of book rental, registration, technology, and other fees.
- Reviews all snack and household and income forms for accuracy.
Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent required, including courses in bookkeeping or related areas.
- Two years of experience with bookkeeping, accounting, and or clerical duties.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with staff, parents, and the general public in a clear, articulate, and courteous manner.
- Ability to communicate with a diverse community.
- Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office programs, such as Word and Excel, and other school-related software.
- Demonstrated proficiency in office related tasks such as typing, filing, and organization.
- Ability to positively react to change productively and handle additional tasks as assigned.
- Flexibility to work alone or with others in a wide variety of circumstances.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and work in an environment with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to solve practical problems.
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
Salary and Benefits - Starting hourly rate of $17.33, commensurate with experience.

Work Conditions - 12 month work year;
