Work Schedule: Sunday - Thursday 12 noon - 8:30 pm
The Hampton - Newport News Community Services Board is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual with personal experience in overcoming a substance use disorder to join our team as a Peer Recovery Specialist. This position is made possible through funding from the Virginia State Opioid Response (SOR) program, which aims to address the pressing needs and challenges associated with opioid use disorders, opioid overdose deaths, and stimulant use disorders.
As a Peer Recovery Specialist, you will be an integral part of our efforts to provide essential support and guidance to individuals struggling with substance use disorders. Your personal experience will serve as a source of inspiration and hope for those on their path to recovery.
Requirements: Must be a person who has experienced a substance use condition and who has a minimum of 12 months of successful recovery including making progress in learning about and managing his or her condition and in developing a life outside of, or in addition to, this condition. Must complete the DBHDS 72-hour Peer Recovery Specialist Training within 6 months of hire.
Current CSB employees are not eligible for the sign-on bonus
The selected candidate must successfully pass a criminal history fingerprint background investigation, DMV record check, Child Registry search, drug screening test and employment reference checks.
