Engineering Intern
General Description :
Under the mentorship of more experienced engineers and project managers, this Engineering Intern position will provide project support to engineering and professional services projects including civil design, AutoCAD design, plan preparation, construction management and inspection services on a wide range of projects (i.e., water management, transportation infrastructure, government facilities, building inspections, etc.). This position may require a varying amount of fieldwork, travel and close coordination with other Tribal 1 offices and trade partners.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Observing and/or interacting with various professionals related to the construction field including owners, architects, subcontractors and vendors.
- Attending staff or departmental meetings on an ongoing basis and any appropriate project-specific or coordination meetings
- Assist in design and permitting of projects.
- Perform conceptual and detailed design calculations and analyses.
- May assist in preparation of detailed engineering reports and supporting documents.
- May assist in preparation of construction drawings, specifications and cost estimates.
- Ensure standard engineering practices and inclusion of appropriate documentation on various reports and design projects.
- Interface with other engineering disciplines.
- Provide administrative support to the project team with development and tracking of various project management communications including inspections, schedules and meeting agendas/ minutes.
- Learn and participate in the quality control process for various types of professional service and construction projects.
- Plan, coordinate and execute work in a safe, timely, cost effective and compliant manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Familiarity with relevant codes and industry standards.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Microsoft Office.
- Third or fourth year student enrolled in Bachelor's degree program in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to successfully pass and remain in compliance with required background checks from Tribal 1 and any required federal government background checks.
- Individual must be either a citizen of the U.S. or a non-U.S. citizen who has been lawfully admitted for permanent residence as evidenced by a Permanent Resident Card (USCIS I-551).
- Must pass drug screen and remain in compliance with drug free workplace policies.
- Valid driver's license.
